ELEGANT BRUTALISM · CONCRETE AND WOOD
Raw material, sophisticated living — exposed concrete as the skin of a thoughtful home
Handcrafted wooden planks lined up on the countertop. A pair of candles. A vibrant figurative painting on the wall. The kitchen of Casa Concreto functions as a curated still life — and the matte black lacquer cabinets are the perfect backdrop for this composition. The exposed concrete on the walls and ceiling is not a sign of rudeness: it is the deliberate choice of those who prefer the honesty of materials. Marcato responded with millwork that serves the architecture, not competes with it.

The precision required for projects with exposed concrete is greater than for conventional walls — concrete has variations of 3 to 8mm that need to be absorbed. In Casa Concreto, the cabinets were installed with leveling shims and aluminum profile trims that create a perfect transition between the millimeter-precise millwork and the living surface. The visitor sees continuity. The cabinetmaker knows what lies behind it.

The home office reveals another facet: a metal-framed bookshelf with glass shelves that showcase books and objects collected over a lifetime. The blinds filter the garden light into golden horizontal strips that change throughout the day. The concrete's patina, the wood's texture, and the cabinets' matte finish form a triad of materials that only improve with time — and Salice Silentia Plus hardware ensures that, twenty years later, every door still closes with the same silence as on the first day.
