SLATTED AND GROOVED PANELS | wood as texture
When the wall finds its rhythm
Slatted panels are an exercise in visual rhythm. Slats spaced with millimeter precision create a cadence that transforms flat surfaces into compositions with depth and movement. At Marcato, the standard spacing is three centimeters, but each project allows for variation — narrower slats for discreet elegance, wider ones for a striking presence.
The woods best suited for slats are those with straight grain and stable fibers: frijó, cumaru, and imbuia. In natural veneer, they create surfaces that warm environments without feeling heavy. In the Micro-textured Paint version — an exclusive Marcato finish — the panel gains color with a velvety touch and over 30,000 shade options.

Grooves: the subtlety that defines furniture
While slatted panels are open and rhythmic, grooved panels are discreet and precise. Shallow grooves carved into the panel surface create lines that lend minimalist elegance to doors, TV panels, and furniture fronts. Straight grooves are the most commonly used, forming frames or linear elements that enhance without competing.
In their curved version, grooves allow for more elaborate compositions — ideal for classic doors and statement pieces. The versatility of grooved panels lies precisely in their restraint: they add texture without shouting.

Applications that go beyond the wall
Slatted and grooved panels are not limited to decorative murals. At Marcato, they appear as room dividers that filter light without blocking, bed headboards that add texture to the bedroom, ceilings that elegantly conceal electrical infrastructure, and even on curved surfaces that follow irregular walls. With sustainable production and non-polluting processes, each panel is custom-designed for kitchens, bedrooms, home offices, bathrooms, and social areas.
