RESIDENTIAL SPA · STONE AND WATER
The bathroom as a sanctuary — natural stone, wood, and water as the only necessary elements
Ana Paula Paolinelli's residential bathroom makes no apologies for its generosity. The natural stone countertop — a greenish-gray granite with irregular veins — extends with the weight and authority of something that has existed for millions of years. On top of it, a rectangular white ceramic vessel sink and a matte black tall-spout mixer create the only admitted contrast: that of clean form against the living surface of the stone.

The suspended walnut cabinet anchors the ensemble with warmth. The thickness of the shelf — 35mm of natural veneer selected for its continuous grain — is a detail only noticeable up close, but it defines the visual weight of the entire composition. Marcato executed a project here where the cabinetry mediates between the hardness of stone and the warmth of wood. Salice hardware with the Silentia Plus system ensures that all doors close with the characteristic silence of high-end cabinetry.
The kitchen of the same project maintains language consistency: matte medium-gray lacquered cabinets, granite countertops with a generous slab thickness, and a central island that organizes flow without imposing a visual barrier. The integration between environments was designed so that the same palette of gray, walnut, and stone runs through the house as a unifying thread.

What distinguishes this project is the absence of any superfluous elements. There are no golden frames, no mirrors with dramatic lighting, no terrazzo for effect. There is stone, wood, water, and light. The choice of materials with real texture — that change to the touch and in daylight — is an aesthetic stance that Marcato advocates: true luxury doesn't announce itself; it is confirmed in daily use, day after day, for decades.
